Headline #1 - MR S RAJARATNAM

This week Mr Rajaratnam passed away at 90 years old, few days before his 91st birthday which is 25 February. The nation mourns. He is one of Singapore's Founding Fathers, of which I found out on his passing away. Why didn't I learn this in Primary School or Secondary school? He was the one who craft out the Singapore pledge, the words I remembered by hard from primary one.

Why do we only remember people when they are dead? Why only do we tell of their goodness when they are dead, when they are not here to listen to the nicely crafted tributes? Why is death bad news for everyone alive and GOOD news for the dead?

I have long resolved not to take anybody for granted, including my buddies. Recently, I am prompted to write to those who has impacted my life when I was young, I even dreamed of this person last night. In my dream, I told him that I appreciate him. I don't want to tell a dead man how GOOD he WAS. No and never.

Headlines #2 - Ms CORRINNE MAY

I finally bought her FLY AWAY album. Yes, I am slow to warm up and I take my time. I did not regret not attending her live concert, it's ok. She sounds great on cd. I appreciate her lyrics and her authentic, honest reflections of life. Musically, it's TOPS. Good arrangements and makes me want to learn the piano. Why do we say she is good, after Carole King says she is great? I am gulity. Why do we always need foreign endorsements before they get famous and well known here?

This society celebrates success more than hardwork. In chinese there's a saying and I'll attempt to try and translate it here. For 7 minutes on stage, is 7 years of hardwork. Nobody writes about hardwork, just success. Instant society.

Corrinne May is a down to earth lady who is not overwhelmed by fame. I saw her interview with Lisa Ang on CNA, she's just the lady you see, no touch ups, just real. I appreciate her and for who God made her to be.

Be yourself, it's the greatest thing one can ever be of course, minus the sin part and allow that transformation to happen.

Beyond the acts of verbal confession

Most Word-Faith teachers will use Mark 11:22 - 24 to justify their teaching and practise on "Faith as Positive Confession". Mark 11:22 - 24 (NASB) 22And Jesus answered saying to them, "Have faith in God. 23Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and castinto the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he saysis going to happen, it will be granted him. 24Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe thatyou have received them, and they will be granted you. 25Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone,so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions. Word-Faith teachers propogate that whatever you confess will come to pass but you must believe you have already received it. Therefore, if you still have lingering symptoms of an illness, confess that you are healed and not mention your symptoms then you are healed. I believe there's a ...

truth hurts but it heals too

2 nights ago, I asked a very close friend of mine if I am an insistent person. Haha.. without any second thoughts, she said yes. Wow, that drove a long nail right through my heart. If you ask, you'll get the answers. Of course, initially I would think to myself, I do not think I am an insistent person all the time but I only insist when I am sure about certain things close to my heart i.e. when I have been seeking God about it or it is IN my system due to long periods of conditioning e.g. spiritually or just my personal value system. That analysis certainly made me felt better but it also got me reflecting (truth heals). As I thought through, certainty about something for me will activate a wish/desire to see it happen immediately and NOW. If it is God's will, it is NOW. As I look back on buying our first flat, it was the same. When I first view the unit (my current place), I was quite sure that the house was IT. But my then fiance and husband now do not think so and asked me ...

Judge Not

"Do not judge lest you be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. And why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eyes, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and behold, the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eyes." - Matthew 7:1-5 (NASB) Otto Fong, used this principle to counter those who decided to 'judge' him because he openly shared that he is a gay. I admire his "courage" and "determination" to be who he is - he only asked for acceptance. His disclosure risked him losing his job as a teacher in the prestigious Raffles Institution whom he had been with for 8 years and also unwanted multiples of criticisms darted towards his sexual preference. O...
